Whole Bean vs. Ground Coffee: Which Should You Buy?
Freshness, flavor and convenience — here's how to pick the right option for the way you brew.

Every Primal Brew roast comes in a 16 oz bag, whole bean or drip grind. Here's how to decide which one belongs in your kitchen, camp box or office.
Why whole bean tastes fresher
Once coffee is ground, far more surface area is exposed to air, and aromatics start fading faster. Grinding right before you brew keeps more of the flavor in your cup.
When drip grind makes sense
If you don't own a grinder and brew with a standard automatic drip coffee maker, drip grind is the easy button. It's also handy for offices and camp trips where convenience wins.
Match the grind to your brewer
- Automatic drip: medium grind (our drip grind).
- Pour-over: medium-fine.
- French press or cold brew: coarse — buy whole bean and grind coarse.
- Espresso: fine — whole bean and a burr grinder are a must.
How to store your coffee
Keep it sealed, at room temperature, away from light, heat and moisture. Skip the fridge — condensation and odors do coffee no favors.
